Indians loves giving missed call because

 

  1. It’s free, as the caller don’t have to pay anything.
  2. It’s fast and instant.
  3. Everyone knows how to make a call
  4. Another party won’t miss looking at the call.

 

So, how can you exploit this service?

 

With the traditional method of giving a missed call on a mobile developer can’t use this service while if, they get an API to retrieve the missed call details in real time developers can make many applications for example;

 

  1. With the help of two numbers like 3095731 and 3095732 developers can make applications for tele-voting say customer dial 3095731 for “Yes” or 3095732 to “No”.
  2. Developers can use the API to build a call back service like Tata Sky and Dish TV has.
  3. Developers can also build games, which are based on missed calls like “Kingfisher” has a “Cricket” game.
  4. Developers can also use these APIs for mobile number verifications.

 

The opportunities are limit less and depend only upon the creativity of the entrepreneurs and developers.

 

ZNi Wireles (www.zni.in) providing missed call numbers for Rs 1000/- per month or Rs 10,000/- for a year (two months free).

 

Some companies may not want to use a local number like 0522-3095777 than in case they could use ZNI’s toll-free numbers which are based on 1800 series like 1800-200-5777.

Quality vs Price

Quality or Price? With which you can compromise? One thing is 100% sure if, you are going only with price than you won’t get quality and if, you want quality than you have to pay the premium. Both can’t walk side by side.

This is also very true with the SMS industry. Till few years back when there were not so many service providers or better I would say resellers were in the market users pay premium for the SMS say around 13 paise per SMS and they got quality for it also like instant delivery, open sender IDs, best support and over 90% delivery ratio but with the arrival of the mass resellers and many cheaters in this industry customers are loosing their money without knowing about it.

Let me make you understand with a simple calculation:

The landing cost of SMS for 1 crore SMS is around 1.2 paise i.e. Rs 1,20,000/- which is still out of reach from most of the vendors offering cheap SMS. Since operator needs at least 5 cr commitment to provide direct connectivity which is not possible  for any of these new entrants they generally buy from other service providers which sells them @ Rs 0.02 per SMS or 0.018 paise for a lakh SMS i.e. Rs 2,000/- for one lakh SMS.

But these cheap SMS service providers sells the same SMS @ Rs 0.009 or Rs  0.01 per SMS which is higher than their landing cost. So, the simple solution they derived is cut the push from backend i.e. when you send one lakh SMS purchased at 1 paise they will deliver only 30,000 SMS, yes only 30% of what you sent. Since they have sent only 30K SMS they have to pay only for that which is Rs 600 while they have charged you Rs 1000 for the same. That way they will still generate profits but only by cheating. Wondering how much  you have paid? No, its not Rs 1000 for one lakh @ 1 paise. Its Rs 1000 for 30,000 SMS @ around 3 paise per SMS because out of 1 Lakh SMS you have sent only 30,000 were pushed by your Bulk SMS service provider.

So, until unless you are using SMS for spamming than don’t buy from such cheap SMS vendors, some of which even don’t have a proper postal address or a land line number. What they do is buying from some reseller and than giving you the services.
